WHAT THE HECK IS ASSEMBLY HOUSE ANYWAYS?
Assembly House is an artist-led community arts organisation, project space and artist studios located in a Victorian mill, alongside the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, in Armley, Leeds.
Since 2013 we have been providing affordable studio spaces, career support for early career artists, developing creative projects in and for our local community, a programme of skills sharing, and commissioning local artists.
What sets us apart is our commitment to showcasing a variety of art forms from both established and up-and-coming artists. We have plenty of great exhibitions planned for this year, so be sure to check back in to see what’s new. We look forward to welcoming you to Assembly House
COMMUNITY PROJECTS
We are passionate about inspiring creativity in our local community. For the last 10 years, our public exhibitions, workshops and activities are designed to do just that. We strive to create a vibrant and welcoming space.
We are passionate about engaging the community with art and creativity and have worked on a number of projects to make this happen. Working with local community groups to create outdoor sculptures, running free workshops for local residents, created murals for the area and last year we held a month-long festival of art, film, food and performance exploring Black British history.
We believe art has the power to bring people together and to evoke emotion and thought.

STUDIOS
Assembly House is currently home to 50 creatives who make up our lively and thriving artistic community. They are professional practitioners including educators, performers, painters, sculptors, illustrators, video artists and designers.
We aim to offer affordable studios to emerging artists, our artists get technical support, producing support along with access to workshops, internal film screenings and events.
SUPPORTING ARTISTS
Assembly House is an artist-led and artist-focused art gallery.
Our mission is to provide emerging artists with a platform to showcase their work to a wider audience. We also offer technical support and mentorship to help our early-career artists develop and refine their practice.
We also involve artists in projects allowing them to gain professional experience, as well as supporting artists who are not studio members through open calls for a broad range of projects.
EVENTS & EXHIBITIONS
Assembly House has been celebrating art in Leeds for ten years, We are always looking for new ways to show and experience art, our exhibition space has had the honour of displaying some great art over the last decade.
